Our Story
From Kitchen Table to Industry Leader
In 1997, Les and Marianne Halpern launched Custom Knife Supply from their Massachusetts kitchen, armed with $2,000 in titanium scraps, 10,000 screws, and a bold idea. That kitchen project eventually grew into Halpern Titanium, one of the most trusted manufacturers of knife parts in the industry, producing millions of precision parts for top brands.
The Birth of TRM Knives
In 2014, they stepped into the spotlight with their own knife brand: Three Rivers Manufacturing (TRM). Thoughtfully designed, American-made, and built for everyday use, TRM’s knives like the Viator, Neutron, and Atom quickly became cult favorites. A community formed. Fans lined up for drops and swapped scales. Today, TRM Knives is an evolution with the same ownership, same quality, same U.S.-made promise — a brand built on quality, trust, and a fiercely loyal community that helped shape it. When you carry a TRM knife, you’re part of the family.
The TRM Atom is a lightweight slicey EDC with beautiful scales and good size. The 3.5 inch 20CV drop point blade cuts well and has easy thumb stud deployment. The knife fits nicely in the hand and is a pleasure to use.

We Support Top Floor Learning
Marianne and Les Halpern, co-owners of Three Rivers Mfg, are lifetime advocates for literacy. Top Floor Learning is a non-profit organization located in Palmer, MA, that relies almost entirely on local and private funding to deliver top-notch adult education services. Adults from 24 towns in Central Massachusetts are offered 1:1 tutoring in reading, writing, math, professional licensing, and high school equivalency prep, and even ESL. With a barebones budget, dozens of selfless volunteers, and a high-energy director, many adults are able to lead more productive lives and advance in their jobs.
Marianne Halpern proudly serves on the Board of Directors of this Central Massachusetts gem. TRM will donate a portion of each knife sold to support TFL’s goals.
