WARRANTY & RETURNS
What is the TRM Knives warranty policy?
TRM Knives offers a limited lifetime warranty guaranteeing that all products are free from defects in materials, construction, and workmanship. If a product is found to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced with a model of equal value at no charge.
What is not covered under warranty?
The warranty does not cover:
- Misuse of the knife (including prying, pounding, or use as anything other than a cutting tool)
- Improper maintenance
- Loss, theft, or cosmetic wear from everyday use
- Modifications or repairs performed outside of TRM Knives that impact the function of the knife or its components (TRM will determine whether such modifications void the warranty.)
Does the warranty apply only to the original owner?
No. TRM’s warranty extends beyond the original owner. Just note this on the return form when submitting a knife. TRM will evaluate whether the knife qualifies under warranty. Modifications like bending the lock, altering the lock face, or replacing ball bearings can void coverage. Cosmetic flaws or missing parts on secondhand knives may not be considered defects.
Can I return a TRM knife?
Yes. Returns are accepted on unused knives within 5 days of purchase. All Items must be returned in their original packaging with all included materials. Please fill out the return form HERE, follow the steps indicated, and our customer service team will process your return.
CUSTOMIZATION & MODS
Can I modify my TRM knife?
Yes, TRM Knives encourages cosmetic modifications such as anodizing, engraving, or swapping scales. However, mechanical modifications (e.g., regrinding blades, altering the lock geometry) will void the warranty.
Does TRM Knives sell replacement scales or parts?
Yes, Absolutely! TRM Knives offers a variety of interchangeable scales (including Micarta, G10, titanium, and carbon fiber) as well as spare parts like pocket clips and hardware. Availability may vary and is updated regularly on the website.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
How do I clean and maintain my TRM knife?
We recommend using a mild dish soap and warm water to clean the blade and handle. Avoid prolonged soaking. After cleaning, dry thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to the pivot and blade to prevent corrosion.
Should I oil the pivot?
Yes, sparingly. A small drop of oil at the pivot point helps maintain smooth action. Excessive oil can attract dust and grit, potentially affecting performance.
What angle should I use to sharpen my TRM knife?
Sharpening at a 17°- 18° angle per side is recommended for optimal edge retention. Regular stropping can help keep the edge sharp between sharpening sessions.
What kind of screws do TRM Knives use?
TRM typically uses:
- T6 Torx screws for scale and clip hardware
- T10 Torx screws for pivot screwsUsing a quality Torx driver set is recommended to avoid stripping screws.
How do I fix an off-center blade?
- If your TRM linerlock blade is slightly off-center, you can often correct it at home using this method: (You may need to repeat this process a couple of times to achieve proper centering.)Remove the clip and both scales.
- Tighten the pivot screw until the blade is stiff and doesn’t move freely.
- Hold the knife with both hands, pivot end in one hand, blade end in the other.
- Place both thumbs on the liners and gently flex inward, as if you’re trying to “snap a twig” with your thumbs. This helps realign the blade.
- Once the blade is centered, adjust the pivot tension to your preference.
- Add a small dab of blue Loctite inside the pivot barrel (not on the screw).
- Tighten the assembly screws.
- Reattach the scales and pocket clip.
LOCK DESIGN & DURABILITY
What lock types do TRM Knives use?
We are best known for titanium linerlocks (found on models like the Atom and Neutron), but we’ve also created knives featuring framelocks, Slipjoints, and River-Loks™.
Each lock is chosen for its functionality, safety, and user experience.
Are TRM Knives' liner locks durable?
Yes. TRM’s titanium liners are precisely machined for a secure, long-lasting lockup. Many customers report years of dependable use with minimal maintenance.
